Young man, go west:

How About Some Help?

There is a church in southern California that decided to start a church in Boise, Idaho. What is interesting is that 250 of their members are planning to move to Boise to help build the new church. They are finding jobs, buying houses and moving their entire families to be a part of this effort.

Of course, this got me to thinking. Are there any families in the reformed world that would be so dedicated? Are there any people with a vision for planting and building OPC churches in North Dakota? I would love for 250 people to move to Mandan to be a part of Bethel, but realistically, I would get pretty excited if just a few families would move here and pitch in with the work that needs to be done.

North Dakota is thriving and jobs are plentiful. For example, statewide there is a need for 900 nurses. Mandan-Bismarck offers business and employment opportunities and plenty of good housing, plus a great environment to raise children.

The Mandan-Bismarck area has a population around 125,000, many of whom do not know the Lord. This is a field that is truly white unto harvest, and Bethel could use your help in bringing in the harvest. So, in the words of John Soule, 1851, “Go west, young man, go west,”  or maybe for some,  “Go north,” for North Dakota offers a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord and His church.
